TN: 2012 Luigi Giordano Spumante Brut

It’s my wedding anniversary today (22 years). We usually pour pink bubbles. Tonight it was a sparkling nebbiolo, and I was an instant fan. Thegrapes for this wine are pressed slowly, and the color comes from skin contact during the pressing. The aromas and flavors are what one would expect from nebbiolo, particularly in the floral department. The layers were fun in this wine. There was floral, berry, some earth, and even a bit of tannin. Not much in the way of yeast or bread, but that’s not necessarily a knock on the wine, just an observation. I’m definitely purchasing another bottle. Very good rosé.

Cool & congrats! Where did you find that Brad?

Thomas. Also available at South Lyndale and France 44. Maybe elsewhere, too. Local importer (The Piedmont Guy, Shafer, MN). I also had the same producer’s Langhe Rosso on Saturday. My friend liked it, but I found it a little too “soft.” 90% nebbiolo, 10% arneis.
