2012 Littorai Pinot Noir The Pivot Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (4/30/2014)
Well this is interesting! While still seeming a little clenched/closed in, there is much to enjoy in the restrained berry (straw & cran) fruit and chalky earth aromas and flavors. The structure is more prominent than in most California Pinot Noir that I have tried, which to me is a positive. I see the potential for significant development here, as the tannins mature, and complexity develops over time. Very good now with outstanding potential.

Tried this at Littorai on Sat and agree it’s still pretty tight, but with lots of potential. The 2012 Platt they were pouring next to it was way more open - and interestingly also more open than the 2011 Platt I tried the day before.
Going to try the '12 Platt soon.
David,
Thanks for the note and Steve for your impressions. I recently received the Pivot/Platt and will try the Platt soon…(Platt) notes included with my shipment indicated “this is one of the most approachable of the 2012s now and it will be difficult to resist drinking it right away…” Looking forward to trying since I am “new” to Littorai.
Cheers,
JP
