    No legitimate reason to open this now other than it’s completely delicious. Yes it’s probably decades from maturity, but the luscious fruit and subtle botrytis spice is a magical combination. It’s not at all heavy, and the acidity is well balanced to the ample sweetness. It’s just too much fun. I have one more, and it will take a Herculean effort to keep my hands off of it.

I had the 2009 recently. It is gorgeous. Never sure about full maturity, because like you, I enjoy the wines at 10 years and more. Maturity, add that petrol and complexity, at the expense of a little fruit. It’s a great trade-off, but I also feel no guilt when I enjoy a younger wine.
