TN: 2012 Faiveley Echezeaux (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru)

  • 2012 Faiveley Echezeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru (8/7/2014)
Punchy and vibrant from get go. Smells of red jelly cristals just as they’re hit with hot water. There are also notes of cherry and pommegranate along with some aniseed and other spices. It is sweet, creamy and plush with a palate of liquid velvet. You get a little floral nuance as you move through the bottle and it is impecably well balanced, delicious and quite long.

Thanks for the notes. I really loved this wine in barrel. I guess I need to find some but the 12s are so darn expensive.

Pricing has gone up Kevin but I still reckon good Echezeaux represents great Grand Cru value for money.

Have you tried the Mazis?

Thanks for the note Jeremy. When comparing the 12 to the 10 Faiveley Echezeaux which one would you put on top?

Not yet Sanjay.

Andrew, I think the '10 has just a little more mid-palate stuffing but they are both outstanding.

Best Regards
Jeremy

Mine arrived today…would crack one if I was at home!

Thanks Jeremy.
