TN: 2012 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese

I almost only drink kabinett from Muller. His other wines are too $$ for my tastes.

The kabinetts are quite clean.

Have you had a chance to try Schneider’s wine from the same vintage/vineyard? The price difference between the two (plus Theise’s enthusiasm for the wine) makes me eager to pick up a handful, but I haven’t talked to anyone who’s tried one yet.

I bought a bunch of Schneider Hermannshohle in 2005 and 2007. On release they taste simpler and softer than Donnhoff’s but after a few years they catch up and can be just as exciting (even more exciting if you take the price difference into account - 05 Schneider Hermannshohle spatlese cost me $16, delivered).

Should be great. I opened one of the auslese last night and it was textbook HH, though a little too sweet to finish the bottle.

I picked up 6 of these based on your tasting note. I have really enjoyed a number of the past vintages of this wine. Magical site + a Great winemaker = Terrific Juice.
