TN: 2012 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Bourgogne Pinot Fin

Posted from CellarTracker

Hey Jeremy, whats your take on the 2012 vintage for red in general?

I bought a dozen of the 2001 and whilst they were at the upper end of pricing for Bourgogne at the time, it was a cracking drink.

The local distributor notes “from 60+ year old vines based on the original pinot fin strain”.

Hi Berry,

I like the 2012 vintage very much from top to bottom and in both Cotes. I almost think it is under-rated (if that is at all possible in this day and age) and we will only truly appreciate how good the wines really are in a decade or two.

In general there is delicious fruit, engaging perfumes, decent concentration, good balance and plenty of minerality to the wines. The balance and proportion is such that they are lovely drinks now but they will age (as do pretty much all Burgundies from every vintage so pretty silly statement on my behalf).

Best Regards
Jeremy

Agree, and would like to add: they show even more structure than a year ago from cask (when the structure was almost hidden behind the lush fruit), so no doubt about ageability, but the tannins are really ripe and the acidity is sound.
Yes - kind of underrated if I read - here and elsewhere - thru the comments …
