2012 Domaine Faillenc Sainte Marie “Noe” Carignan, Corbieres, Languedoc. Maybe I should post this in the bargain wine thread because, at $15, it drinks well above its price tag. But $15 (or less) is what this wine goes for, so it’s not a “bargain” compared to itself. Lots of mineral and leather on the nose. A little poopy, but not to the point that I couldn’t deal with it. Some floral overriding it all. First impression in the mouth is that there is enough acid in this wine that I know I’m going to like it–especially with the duck breast and duck confit I just ordered. Black fruits surrounded by dank (in a good way) earth ground this wine, and the herbal and floral accents can flit around. Such a great wine with food. Will definitely pick up more.
Sounds like a wine I would enjoy but guess will be hard to find up here.
A fabulous little domaine Brad - they also produce an exquisite Rose -
So glad Rosenthal’s book is back in this market.
Glad to hear the style seems similar to earlier bottles I’ve had off and on of this during the past 20 years or so. And do try their rose.
