I know what you’re thinking - “why in the world is he drinking a 12+ year old SB?”

Well, for one thing, it was released under my label. Sometime in early 2013, we commercial producers at the late and not lamented Crushpad which arose from the ashes as Wine Foundry, were offered barrels of sauvignon blanc from this vineyard at a reasonable price. Mostly because I wanted a Congruence white to start dinners on the road, I bit. I tasted about 10 barrels as I recall, including this one which was in neutral French oak at the time. It was my favorite.

I held back some bottles to track the wine over time. It’s done quite well. I took it to dinner a couple years back and the restaurant owner tasted it and said he never had a sauvignon blanc as good. This is, I think (unless I uncover another), the last one I’ll taste.

To the eye, a very light golden color. On the nose, dried herbs and apple and the slightest tint of oxidative notes. Not overwhelming or unpleasant, just a hint of fino sherry. For its age, a nice complexity and relatively deep flavors. Went well with trout almondine. Not done yet, but if I had more, I’d drink them now.

  1. I drink a fair amount of Sauvignon Blanc (although most often blended with Semillion at 12 years or older.
  2. I think it would be good if you headed your post as being commercial. I know you do not have any of this wine for sale, but I think members of this board appreciate knowing right away of any possible commercial ties (I know I do).

Yes. Congruence was wrapped up over 6 years ago. Haven’t sold any of the wine since. What’s the statute of limitations? :wink:

Didn’t know that, apologies.

I’m now 99% retired and still trying to figure out if or how I should post on the wines I used to import and that the company I sold to a group including my ex-employees still does.
