•2012 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Old Vine - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (10/12/2013)
My first Bedrock, and I have to say, this bottle not only lived up to the hype, it exceeded it. Like a glass of ice cold water on a blazing hot day, it was simply impossible to not want to just keep dumping this stuff in your mouth. A mélange of both red and black fruits give immediate appeal, low acidity but the brambly notes gave just enough structure to hold this together. I am kicking myself as I only bough 3 of these, kicking the tires so to speak, but if I could use a time machine, I would have bought the double case load in CA minute.

Intense aromatics, great depth, big, juicy, spewing Sonoma Valley, bramble, spice and all that is good about Sonoma Zinfandel. What an exceptional blend. $20? Well done!
Stuck at the office late last night - picked up the SO and driving home. Missed reservation at restaurant. So suggested a great Thai place instead of straight heading home. Pulled up in pouring rain. “This place does corkage…too bad we don’t have any wine.” “Um, actually we have a trunk full of Bedrock.”
So inspired by the notes, I dug through the boxes in the rain and found the Old Vine. Brambly! Loved it. The rest of the bottles will see some cellar time, however.
Surprised that it’s showing well…Morgan recommended that it wait at least a year, but told me to give it big air if opened now. Dang it, may have to try one…

Certainly no travel shock here. I couldn’t wait to open one fresh off the FedEx truck and this is already everything you could want in a $20 wine and then some. Fresh red fruit and briar aromas along with black pepper. The palate is also quite fresh with red & black raspberry, cherry, plum, black pepper, briar and just a hint of cedar. Good acidity and medium tannins give it nice structure. I would open one of these as soon as you get them but it should age for several years though I’m going to have trouble keeping my hands off of mine. (92 pts.)
There’s no pickup date yet is there? Will drive up and get mine. Like forced savings, with all of you popping yours already. I’m beginning to regret only buying a couple of cases. LOL.
Opened a 2012 Bedrock Old Vine over the weekend, my first go round with these wines and simply loved the bottle and the QPR. No hurry on when to open, and I would give it a few hours of air before diving in.
