TN: 2011 Turley Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard

  • 2011 Turley Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (4/4/2014)
Love this bottle. Full of juicy, rich black raspberry fruit, with thirst quenching acidity. Very rustic, and as to be expected with a young petite, this has incredible tannic traction and length. Most remarkable for its prominent peppercorn notes weaving their way through the fruit and nose from start to finish. I’d been cutting back on my PETS orders, but this compelling bottle has convinced me to find space and more occasions to enjoy these wines. This is one of the most pleasurable, and consistent producers in my cellar.

Turley’s Hayne and Library Petite offerings are every bit as great!

Mike, I agree! Unfortunately, circumstances have shrunk my storage space and I usually end up going through my entire seasonal allocation before the next one arrives. I’ve learned that even a year or two can improve the PETS significantly, so I’m going to start stashing those at least!

Jody,
I bought some of the '11 Pesenti, PS at the winery recently. I thought it was stunning. Tried it next to the '06 Rattlesnake, Hayne, and Library, and surprisingly it outshone them all.

That’s interesting Peter. I typically just pull out a wine that sounds good at the time. based on your comparative tasting, it sounds like this is perhaps a special bottle. This was definitely the most memorable for me, out of about a dozen Turley Petites over the last year.
