TN - 2011 Failla Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Picked up the 2011 Failla Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast on a Champagne run back in December. At the same time we picked up a 2008 Brewer Clifton Pinot Noir Sta Rita Hills that I previously reviewed. The Failla was pulled from 54F refrigerator opened, poured, and drank over a 1 hr dinner. Visually in the glass this is a medium garnet color with no signs of age. The aromatics were slight with simple cherry coming through. On the palate this is a nicely balanced wine with cherry and some raspberry flavors matching with a spicy wood note. The fruit is intertwined with the acid, fine tannins, and alcohol(13.5%) and is not upfront of the other components. This is another beautiful QPR(<$30) pinot noir that is worth having around for meals and should be fine for 3-5 yrs. It is very different from the Brewer Clifton mentioned before in that the BC has more fruit, weight, and alcohol(15.5%). Both worth having around…Gary
