2011 Enfield Wine Co. Syrah Haynes Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/19/2014)
Needing something after my first choice of bottles was corked (a 2006 Bodegas Vizcarra Ramos Ribera del Duero JC Vizcarra), I grabbed the first thing at hand. Lucky me! This wine was still quite open, with red/black fruit, a nice earthiness and some spice and herb background notes. The barest hint of meatiness (which I have gotten in the 2010 in sapdes), but overall a really harmonious, enjoyable, balanced wine. This was a pleasure to drink.

Thanks for the note! I have been trying to forget about my 2011 and '10 Enfields, as I imagined they will need some time. Do you think this one is legitimately ready to go, or perhaps best to wait a while?

I see no harm in drinking, but no rush either. I have buried my last few 2010s.

Tried bottle # 1 tonight, a delightful feminine expression that has more going on than the color/weight might lead you to believe.
