TN: 2011 Enfield Wine Co. Chardonnay Heron Lake Vineyard

2011 Enfield Wine Co. Chardonnay Heron Lake Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Wild Horse Valley (12/24/2013)
Just a bit of haze. Tropical fruit and citrus aromas burst from the glass, with a bit of spice. The palate is somewhat leaner than the nose would suggest, but that is all to the good. Bright fruit and refreshing acidity dominate the palate. Very well done. I look forward to drinking further bottles over the next several years.

Keep hearing good things about Enfield…need to check them out…
Thanks. I think.

Nice. A new name to me.

John Lockwood was kind enough to pour this for me when I picked up my Syrah from him. It is a leaner, acid-driven style that is rather reminiscent, at least to me, of some Ceritas bottlings I’ve had. Really needs some sideways time, I think…a rather impressive, atypical Chardonnay. I am eagerly anticipating checking out his future releases.

We referenced Ceritas and Arnot-Roberts while drinking the Enfield. Really glad to be following John’s venture.
