2011 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (11/7/2013)
Nose: Even after almost 3 hours being open, it’s still on the tighter side with red cherries, spices, lavender, licorice, red and black fruits, and some raspberries. There is a real purity to the nose with very good depth.
Taste: Medium bodied with youthful tannins. The structure isn’t overpowering, but it’s certainly there. While it’s obviously young, there is a sleek quality to the feel with red cherries, raspberries, spices, lavender, and licorice.
Overall: This is obviously young, but it’s really damn good. It can use a few years and is a great intermediary while the 10s are sleeping. (93 pts.)
