TN: 2011 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape

  • 2011 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (11/7/2013)
Nose: Even after almost 3 hours being open, it’s still on the tighter side with red cherries, spices, lavender, licorice, red and black fruits, and some raspberries. There is a real purity to the nose with very good depth.

Taste: Medium bodied with youthful tannins. The structure isn’t overpowering, but it’s certainly there. While it’s obviously young, there is a sleek quality to the feel with red cherries, raspberries, spices, lavender, and licorice.

Overall: This is obviously young, but it’s really damn good. It can use a few years and is a great intermediary while the 10s are sleeping. (93 pts.)

the pic is an 09.

that’s what was in CT. Trust me, the wine in my glass is the 11

Good consolation prize to a zero point weekend… [wow.gif]

thanks Keith - the few 2011 CDP’s I’ve tasted so far seem to have potential and more readily accessible than the 2010’s

I’ll have to look for the 11. It should be released up here soon. I picked up 6 of the 2010, which most surely need a few years. Have a couple of 05 as well. 11 should be a good wine to pass the time while I wait.
