TN: 2011 Carlisle The Derivative White (USA, California, Sonoma County)

2011 Carlisle The Derivative White - USA, California, Sonoma County (4/8/2017)
Starts with a fascinating nose that just exudes interesting aromas; so much going on in this wine, a melange of flavors that are hard to describe, seemingly tropical for an instant, then dry and mineral the next, then tart and mouthwatering an instant later. A beautifully complex white that doesn’t really fit into any particular box. (92 pts.)

I opened a 2010 and it was totally oxidized…glad things worked out on the '11.

Thanks for the note Alan!!

I think I have a bottle of this on hold with WineBid…

Alan, great note, thx. The Derivative is always so nice with some years on it.

Awesome note Alan. Love both the Derivitive and Compagni-Portis with some age. Just had the 11 CP the other day and it was killer but still has plenty of time left.

Alan,

I had this last night as well and think your notes are spot on. I was worried I had waited a little too long to open my last 2011, but it’s in a really good spot now.

Damn all of you…I’ll have to dig out an '11.

You must have had a bad bottle. I had all the Derivatives (2010 through 2015) last night and the 2010, while the most simple of the six, was sound and in no danger of fading. The 2011 was better, but the 2012 was the star of the flight.

Sounds like i should check in on a 12. Thanks for posting!
