TN: 2011 Alma Rosa Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills

  • 2011 Alma Rosa Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills - USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills (9/5/2014)
I don’t know what it is about Alma Rosa with me….but I absolutely LOVE these Pinots! Drank a bunch of 05’s…and am always on the lookout for these wines but never see them. So……when I saw these show up at a Costco for $21…I was thrilled! Still as I remember……very easy drinking, yet with some contemplation….sweet feminine cherry, rhubarb, raspberry fruit….just an amazing cinnamon/sandalwood/dried rose floral spice….balanced well with soft wood tannins, some strawberry field earthiness, slight orange peel-tobacco-red wine vinegar tang……ALL in a mellow, well balanced, easy going, sneaky complex package. Kind of reminds me of a young and mellow Faiveley Cos de Cortons! Really tasty stuff here for the money! (93 pts.)

Brian - is that a Zalto Bordeaux glass?

It sure looks good doesn’t it? flirtysmile

So many OR Pinots to try, I do not venture into CA much. This one sounds like I would enjoy it very much. [cheers.gif]

Yup…my “universal”!
