TN: 2010 Vietti Perbacco

For some reason this is showing much better than the last bottle 4 months ago. Aerated a couple of glasses on day 1 and left a half bottle overnight for day 2. Typical nebbiolo light and bright ruby color. Extremely rose floral nose that I can smell from a couple of feet away and it’s more subdued on day 2. Day 2 softens this early drinker slightly but it does not fall apart. I liked the edgy potency of day 1 and appreciated its softer and mellower style on day 2. I did not like this wine 4 months ago but it’s in a better place now. I love good Nebbiolo that drinks well so early. 2009 Perbacco definitely has more heat. 2010 is more balanced and cooler and better. I’ll be interested to see how this evolves over a few years.

Thanks. I am a buyer most vintages. The 04’s are drinking great right now.

Ditto on the thanks. I would not have expected Perbacco to age that long. I have 15 bottles of the 2010 and a mag but I was not thinking I’d hang on to them for that long. I’ll have to adjust my thinking.

Had a bottle last week, loved it.

Very much red fruited with a whiff of flora and a strand of liquorice weaving through the aroma and flavour profile. Generous yet reasonably structured. A wine of delicious perfume and balance.
