TN: 2010 Shafer ‘One Point Five’, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley

2010 Shafer ‘One Point Five’, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley: the first thing that comes to mind is that is a noble wine that knows it pedigree and shows others how it should be done; expressive aromatics lead the way, followed by perfectly balanced dark concentrated fruit; the powerful fruit presence is engaging and playful, rather than imposing; a nearly perfect mouth-feel and heft; nice acid, lift, structure and tannic backbone; a match made in heaven for an eclectic dinner of prime rib and lasagna; even the 1% Petit Verdot makes it presence known and adds to the character of this fabulous wine; wish I had more, a lot more

Not sure Shafer ever made a red wine I didn’t like other than Firebreak. Cab, great, Merlot, great, Hillside, epic.

have to agree Kris; although, I never tried a Firebreak
