TN: 2010 Maculan "Dindarello"

2010 Maculan “Dindarello”, Veneto Moscato IGT.

375 ml, $14.99 before PA tax. “Chairman’s Selection”. They say to “compare at $25” but the average price on my search was about $18 or so, although $14.99 was lower than any other price found.

Gorgeous passito style Moscato from Maculan. Light golden yellow color. Huge nose of fresh ripe pear, some peach, and some spiciness. Similar flavors on the palate, where it has a full, silky round mouthfeel that belies it’s 11.5% alcohol. Lightly sweet, excellent acidity to balance everything out, long intense finish. This is the first time I have ever tasted a Dindarello and was not sure what to expect, but was well pleased with the result at this price. I should not be surprised as Maculan’s wines have always impressed me, both reds, whites and especially the great dessert wines “Torcolato” and “Acininobile”. Grade: B+/A-.

Love this stuff. Some vintages taste of sweet pineapple.

Thanks for the reply Pro… I mean Ken.

Yes, a tropical element, I can see that… I was expecting something more along the lines of a Passito di Pantelleria with that orange peel thingie, but Maculan did it with a “Veneto twist”… [basic-smile.gif]

I loved it!
