2010 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py Javernières
Seems to be a work in progress right now. There’s quite a bit of fruit, and it has a tart edge versus being uniformly sweet. The structure of the wine is a little too apparent, with a notably chalky mouthfeel that needs to resolve a bit for the wine to be more pleasurable drinking. Overall it’s a very tight wine right now, so best to wait a little while before opening any more bottles.
Didn’t realize there were 4 different Burgaud Py bottlings until your post prompted a look at his website. The regular 2010 Py has tightened up considerably over the past 6 - 9 months, so not too surprising to hear about the Javernieres. Not sure whether the Reserve and James Cuvees make it to the US regularly?

I have 6 of the James procured through normal retail, so that one gets here as well.
I’ve got some of the 2010 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py Vieilles Vignes I picked up from Garagiste; do you think the aging profile for that is similar to that of the Javernieres & James bottlings?
Also got some of the Morgon Vieilles Vignes and Beaujolais-Villages Les Vignes de Thulon; I assume those are lower-level and will drink better young (i.e. more like a bojo) - may crack one of them soon…
Thank you for the posts!
