2010 Herb Lamb Sauvignon Blanc Two Old Dogs - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/9/2011)
Pale yellow. Nose of guava, citrus, and a shale/wet rocks. In the mouth…bit of a pucker on the front. Noticeably more tangy and acidic than the 2009. The orange blossom/peachy sauvignon musque flavors seem much more subdued than in past vintages. While I loved those fun flavors, it seems like the 2010 might pair better with food. Outstanding (90-95) (90 pts.)

Thanks for the note. I went for a case this year and am glad to hear that it is solid again this year. I normally only buy a 6 pack, however, my enjoyment of previous vintages (and free shipping) convinced me up my order. I am a sucker for free shipping.
This is very good stuff, had it a few weeks back.
I am still drinking these from 2008 as I think a few years in the bottle help these calm down a bit.
When Jennifer, (Lamb), delivered our first supply for retail, she dropped off two bottles for Carrie and I to try. She said the wine was very young. The grapes were on the vine and extra month due to weather and bottled a month later than usual, but released the same time as always.
We waited a whole 6 hours before opening a bottle. The wine had all the characteristics of the previous vintage, just slightly disjointed and a little lighter. By the time we finished the bottle, it was building in character and coming together. I didn’t know a Sauvignon Blanc would need more time. Obviously, Jennifer was letting us know it needed a little more time. I opened the second bottle an hour before we drank it and it was much closer to last vintage’s characteristics with more prominent peach and pear.
Interestingly enough, when we opened the new release Ziata Sauvignon Blanc. It too seemed a little light and a bit disjointed. Just like the TOD, the Ziata came together over the next hour.
I do agree that the Herb Lamb begs for food. Cheese platter, wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon bits or Panda Express Beijing Beef, Sweetfire Chicken Breast and fried rice. Don’t know if it goes with fish, 'cause I don’t eat fish.
