2010 Grey Stack Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Rosemary’s Block - USA, California, North Coast, Bennett Valley (6/21/2011)
Whoaa…Whats going on here? Cloudy, effervescent, plentiful acid, tangy tart tropical citrus attacks fresh and rounds out on the midpalate. Lots of heft for a sauvignon blanc. I just don’t know what to think. This wine defies categorization. Its a freak… But I kinda love it.
Serving Suggestions…Served alone it was interesting and eyebrow raising, but served w plain seared scallops it really was rockin. I actually liked it served a bit colder than I would have normally served SB. As to the suggestions about decanting…I kinda liked the lees mixed in as the bottle got low. If you want ordinary Sancerre, buy something else. If you are attracted to this wine, why bother? (90 pts.)
