TN: 2010 Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu Vieilles Vignes

  • 2010 Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (6/15/2014)
This is a special wine that I had a hard time not finishing before our entrée course. Everything about this wine is dead on perfect for my palate. Great energy and intensity combined with a dazzling array of citrus and stony flavors. This VV cuvee is reputed to see some oak. If it did, it really added a lot of depth while still maintaining the vibrance that is this wine. Nothing about this wine screams oak though. Equally great is the huge nose which just sparkles with floral and seaside aromas. We drank this over a long lunch and afterwards I ordered 3 more btls for the cellar immediately. The lip smacking intensity of this wine is such a head turner. I couldn’t get my nose out of the glass. 60yr old vines / 13% Alc. (96 pts.)

Thanks, a very mouthwatering note!

I got a 6-pack of the non-VV version of this for $30/each, hope those show nearly as well!

Pat, you can’t go wrong here. My, hands down, favorite Chablis producer and I own a bunch of Dauvissat too but prefer Billaud Simon. I can’t wait to try one of my "10 Billaud Simon Preuses soon!

Love me some Billaud-Simon also!!! Still like Dauvissat and Fevre more but BS offers amazing value. A few years back I grabbed a case and a half of the 2005 Les Blanchots for $35 per bottles. They are drinking spectacularly.

Sitting on a 6 pack of the '10 Preuses…keeping my hands off them isn’t easy, but having a plethora of various 1er from 07/08/10 at silly prices makes it doable.

I’m down to a single magnum of the 2004 MdT (one of my first Billaud-Simon experiences)…what a wine that is. Have you tried that one Craig?
