A friend was nice enough to share this young beauty at lunch this past Friday…
Decanted a little over an hour with aggressive swirling about every ten minutes. A little lighter in color than the typical Frog but no less complex. Tons of iron, graphite, and meat at the core of the nose wrapped tight by a blanket of violets and lavender. Medium bodied with juicy black plums and dark cherries complimented by smoked meats and licorice. The savory components are slightly winning the tug of war at this stage, which is fine by me. The finish leaves that lingering feeling of minerality on your tongue that is a hallmark of recent Frogs. This wine is young and tight but has the nucleus and elements to gain even more breadth as it ages. The Frog rocks on. 96+ pts.
