2010 Francis Coppola / Niebaum-Coppola Sofia Rosé - USA, California, Central Coast, Monterey County (4/16/2011)
The 2010 “bowling pin” keeps the same Syrah/Grenache blend as the previous two vintages, which was a big improvement from the Pinot Noir rose that was the 07 vintage. This shows some initial tartness in the fruit that mellows out a bit as it warms up from the chilled temperature. Clean and crisp with nice fruit, this will make an awesome summer BBQ wine and at the current price of $8.50 at Costco, you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal on a similar wine. (87 pts.)
