TN: 2009 Rivers-Marie Chardonnay B. Thieriot Vineyard, best chard I've ever had

  • 2009 Rivers-Marie Chardonnay B. Thieriot Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (4/7/2012)
I dont usually comment on color but this wine is beautiful to look at. Crystalline amber. The nose shows some oak that recedes to leave citrus peel, pineapple, pear. Some mineral notes like rock dust as well. The palate is intense on the attack with distinct pineapple and a blast of citrusy acid. Smooth and slick texture. Long mouth watering finish. Damn. This is my favorite bottle of Chardonnay ever.

This wine is simply outstanding.

It’s pretty awesome.

I am drinking the 2008 right now, and it is outstanding. My notes are very similar to yours.

Medium yellow color with just a little of CO2 spritz. This wine has a seductive nose of lemon, toast, smoke, and hazelnuts. The palate is citrus packed with lemon, toast, smoke, and minerals. The acidity makes this crackle with energy and highlights the complex, citrus flavors. The finish unfolds in the mouth and stains the palate for better than an minute. Wow, this has a long finish. Overall, this is a fine wine with complexity, depth, and verve.

I can’t wait to try the 2009 and 2010.

Scott

The 2010 will blow your socks off! My favorite Chardonnay. Saving one to age but the rest will be gone. To good not to enjoy.

agreed. awesome chards.

Great note, thank you. We have similar tastes in Chardonnay and I am psyched to have a coup,e of these.

RM and Rhys are by far my favorite Chards. Hard to say which I like better. I love to pour these for people who don’t really like Chardonnay.

I wish I had enough of either one to pour for people

Berto, Have 2 each of the 09 and the 10. Any hurry to drink either? Have you tried the KB Char yet?

No hurry whatsoever Bill but unless you are oak adverse I see no reason to wait on the 09 either  i havent tried kb. Sort of expect buttered popcorn from it though.
