- 2009 Pere Mata Cava 20th Anniversary Cuvée - Spain, Cava (5/4/2025)
A 2009 vintage Cava disgorged in 2024? Never would have thought I would see such a thing. It’s real though, and quite delicious. There’s a creaminess to the palate, and it has more mid-palate depth than most all Cava (even the other excellent wines from Pere Mata). More doughy/bready as well, though there is still crisp, tart citrus fruit. Really glad I bought some of this, and even happier to have more bottles left.
Nice. Sounds delicious!
It is!
sounds awesome! finally bought some of these (and have a case arriving from Panzer some time soon), after @Zachary_Ross talked me into paying attention to the Pere Mata emails.
I bit on one of Robert’s Pere Mata offers a few years ago and have been a fan ever since. The value proposition is tough to ignore.
Now I’m curious enough to dig up one of the recent offers and look for an Anniversary Cuvée. Nice note, David. ![]()
It was $39. Pricy for Cava but still a good value in sparkling wine overall, especially given the quality level.
These are incredible values.
I saw the 2009 wine on Le Menu but just went with my usual smattering of $16-$19 cuvées.
I bought those sub-$20 bottles this time. The 2009 was in my prior order. Should have gotten more but I hadn’t tasted it yet.
Glad to see Pere’s wines getting some love.
Now check out the Melsheimer sparklers…
