TN: 2009 NCT (Niagara College Teaching) Winery Pinot Noir Dean's List

  • 2009 NCT (Niagara College Teaching) Winery Pinot Noir Dean’s List - Canada, Ontario, Niagara Peninsula, St. David’s Bench VQA (10/9/2013#
Light color, with a light nose of raspberry. the palate is muted, with raspberries primarily but with a good bit of tannins and acid. The wine is either shut down or just poorly made. I’ll wait another year or so to try the next one to see if it adds any weight. #83 pts.)

Their Pinot Noir has garnered at least one Cuvée award (I forget which vintage - certainly pre-2009), but I’ve always been underwhelmed when I’ve tasted it (tasted a few times at the College, but never purchased).

I too am not a fan. Poorly made.

It tasted better when I tried it at the winery, which is why I took a shot at a few bottles. That’s why I’m hoping it was either a bad bottle or it’s in a weird place right now. Generally speaking, the 2009 vintage was pretty good in Niagara for Pinot Noir.
