2009 Ladd Cellars Pinot Noir Russian River Valley- USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (11/28/2014)
Medium ruby, earthy nose with a little rubber note. Open over night, dry with bright berry, tart mineral. Interesting rubber phenol mineral notes, must be the dirt showing. Nice tannins to complement the acid and the fruit which is still showing primary flavors. Just starting to drink well with a lengthy future. (91 pts.)
Thanks for the note Dennis. I’ve never gotten anything similar to rubber notes from the wine tho…off bottle somehow? If so, I’ll replace it. This is one of my go to wines in restaurants currently.
Eric, I am not saying it was an off bottle and quite liked it. There was just a nuanced taste that I was trying to identify, not quite like the funkiness of a few local wines. It is a pleasure to drink, I do not want to indicate otherwise.
I asked the boss what she tasted in the wine last night. BTW the funk disappeared after night one. She tasted cranberries and I got slightly green blackberries which she called an oxymoron, and I should say not quite fully ripe blackberries. Super good and complex wine for 25 bucks.
