TN: 2009 Justin Vineyards & Winery Isosceles

  • 2009 Justin Vineyards & Winery Isosceles - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (9/5/2014)
Decanted - vigorously shaken. Nose is black berry, big, bold…cardamom. Some cinnamon. Dark and inky. In the mouth, big, brooding, berry-ful (yeah, I know it’s not a word), luscious. My wife loved this. I mean LOVED it, like the look when you tell her “no honey, I got the kids this morning…you go back to sleep”. Paso Robles beautastical. Drink now if you’re ready for the ride, or wait a few years. EXCELLENT. (94 pts.)

I’m a big fan of Justin. Nice note.

Yup.

I opened one less than a month ago and really liked it but felt it will be better in a couple of years. I don’t love all the Justin wines but do really like the Isosceles. My wife seems to love everything they make.

We stayed at Justin for two days in the fall of 2011. Great folks and just a wonderful setting.

Pretty much the ONLY producer from Paso Robles I enjoy, and my wife absolutely adores both Isosceles and Justification. The one time I had Isosceles with some age on it, I was convinced I needed to age some, however, Jen has other ideas, and when I bought a mixed case of the two, they were gone within 2 months…

Sounds like you’ve had multiple vintages of this. Have you noticed any major differences stylistically over time or is it pretty consistent?

Nice note.

I haven’t, actually - perhaps 4 vintages, but only one with some age on it as the others were babykilled. When I get some more, I’m going to hide a couple bottles of Isosceles otherwise Jen will drink them instantly.

A great post. I checked and I have a couple of those in my possession. Great to hear the notes on them.

Recently had a 2008 Isoceles Reserve. I had heard that there was a reserve but had never seen one. Very brooding, showing better the second day. Should age well.
