    Very pale in color. No spritz, and a bit of sulfur on the nose that quickly blows off. Tangerines and white cherries on the palate, with honey, that wonderful Prum minerality, and a little peach. Small portions of lychee, lime, and burnt match add to the finish. Not a Prum for the ages, but very very very good. Served with pork chops rubbed with Penzey’s Galnea Street Rub, Fuchsia Dunlop’s Dryfried Green Beans, Paul Prudhomme’s Devily Delicious Black Beans with Andouille, and Madhur Jaffrey’s Aromatic Basmati Rice. (92 pts.)

Thanks! I have to resist buying more Prum, as I have a huge backlog, and because of how much I like it aged I almost never drink the stuff.

Rich – Why do you say it’s not for the ages? With the acidities of the 09s, I would think they would be long-lived.

It looks like he meant it in a qualitative comparison sense, not ageability.

Poor choice of words on my part. It will definitely age, but not one of the greatest ever. More of a career 295 hitter, not Ted Williams.

Due to a local wholesaler change I picked up both 2004 GH Spatlese and 2006 GH Auslese for $19.99. Loaded up on 2007 GH Auslese last year for the same price. The Auslesen will drink well into my retirement one day.

I am in the same boat as David afer finishing off my 1990 GH Spatlese, my oldest Prum vintage is 2001.

2004 WS Kabinett is not a crime to open now and I am holding off on just about all other Prums.
