TN: 2009 Hobel Cab, Napa

First wine of 2012, and it could be quite some time before I have another as good. Wow, this is really well made. Intense dark fruit that pours noticeably slow out of the bottle with significant black cherry and kirsch in its flavor. Fantastic grip, chewy, but smooth with few hard edges. An extremely long and righteous finish. The last wine that tasted like this was the 2005 Scarecrow. If I didn’t have work tomorrow I’d drink the whole bottle. But the good news is I get to savor it over the next 3 days. Yummy, yummy, yummy. 96+ points. [cheers.gif] [welldone.gif] [winner.gif]

Did you decant at all or pop & pour? Also looking forward to a day 2 update. So far all the notes I’ve seen on this wine have been extremely positive, makes me wish I bought more than 2.

Bob, go buy more while you still can. I have had 2 bottles of this and I couldn’t be more enthusiastic.

Had this on Friday night an our experience mirrors that of Curtis’. Will go back to the well for more, especially at this price point.

Had some more tonight. Not as bright and sharp as yesterday. I bought 4 more, and will drink them early as they are already in my palate sweet spot so I see no upside to prolonged cellaring. Cudos to Randy Bowman who got me interested in this wine in the first place with his TN. [cheers.gif]

Aah geez, don’t let him think he actually has a palate, I’ll never hear the end of it. neener

Well he married you…

Pop and pour.

We had it New Years eve. Opened 8am, decanted for an hour and put back into bottle to take to restaurant for 7pm dinner. Reopened about 7:45. Was just awesome. Wowed everyone who had it. Glad I have two more, I will buy more…

I’m glad we have a bunch too neener
