TN: 2009 Harrington Nebbiolo (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles)

Second delicious wine from a BerserkerDay 3-pack.

2009 Harrington Nebbiolo - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (4/23/2012)
Light color, translucent ruby core with a pale rose rim. Pretty nose, floral, lifted, baked strawberries and cinnamon. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Structured palate with prominent acidity and fine grained tannins but plenty of cranberry and strawberry fruit too. Great combination of freshness and structure. Maybe better in a few years as the tannins soften but hard to resist now. (91 pts.)

Thanks for posting your tasting note, and glad you’ve been enjoying the Harrington wines. The 2009 Nebbiolo was only the second year we made that variety, after years of making only Pinot Noir. So we’re still getting a handle on both the variety and the vineyards, but we think the climate and calcareous soil of Westside Paso Robles is a promising spot in California for Nebbiolo.
