2009 Familia Zuccardi Torrontés Santa Julia Organica - Argentina, Mendoza (1/14/2010)
Light color. Rich fruity aromas promise a bit more than this wine can deliver. Pear flavor is dominate with some melon notes as well. Nice full initial flavor but trails off quickly. Still, a pleasant wine and fully worthy if you’re looking for a light-bodied white wine that retailed here for just $8.99. (82 pts.)

Torrontes is good value stuff. In that price range, some others to seek out (disclosure, I sell these wines)
Goulart
Bianchi
Urban Uco
Neat grape that I have yet to see anyone make a bottling that retails over $15, and they always seem to be very decently made. The ‘Grand Cru’ I’ve come across has been the Susana Balboa Crios, which weighs in around $13 in these parts (this is one we have in our store). Pretty much every winery in Argentina that has a value brand is likely to at least try this grape, as it seems to be emerging as the white grape of identity for Argentina in the same way Malbec came up.
