    Pale gold color. Nice nose showing florals and key lime. Medium bodied. This is really walking a tightrope between entry level village Burgundy and a fuller bodied new world Chardonnay. There are oaky notes and the texture borders on creamy, but it doesn’t jump over the edge. There is a severe acidic cut through the palate that keeps things refeshing and clean. Medium finish.

Nice wine. A bit pricey at $28, but with the lack of good Chardonnay in Washington, this is a welcome addition.

Boy is that an understatement!! When you add in the cost for most WA chardonnays, it accentuates it even more. The only two chardonnays in recent memory that have tickled my fancy are the 09 Maison Bleue Au Contraire and the 07 Sleight of Hand Enchantress (the 09 version of this will be released this weekend–looking forward to seeing if it is as good as the 07). I’ve just found myself gravitating more and more to Chablis, the Loire, and Sancerre to satisfy my white wine cravings (other than rielsing, course).

Great note, Anthony, and I just may have to give this a shot at least once.

  • 1 on the Maison Bleue, 100% stainless Chard with almost no color, but it was loaded with soft pear and mineral notes, should be had for less than $20 if you look around.
