TN: 2009 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots Vieille Vigne

Consumed over two nights at home. Cool blue fruit impressions, blackberries, sappy, very mineral, spicy and earth. The palate is polished, juicy and sweet ending with bright acidity. There is a slight hint of fizz. Drinking nicely with the primary fruits. This bottle definitely has more mineral and earthy expression and more harmonious, also less fizz. The fruit impression is not terribly complex although nicely layered. Delicious and Lovely. I would definitely decant for a couple of hours to remove fizz. (93 pts.)

Consumed over two nights at home without much change. I don’t usually describe the color but this showed dark core with almost clear rim. Blackberries, blackberry jelly, raspberry, crushed rocks and sweet spices. Nice dense sweet palate, bright acidity and nicely integrated tannins. There is a hint of fizz. The fruit expression is pure but perhaps not transparent if that makes sense. It would be interesting to revisit the progress in five years, hoping that it will develop the complexity without becoming too jammy and cloying. (91 pts.)

Sounds like the more recent bottle seemed a bit less “jammy”, so that’s good.
