TN- 2009 Charly Thevenet Régnié Grain & Granite

  • 2009 Charly Thevenet Régnié Grain & Granite - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Régnié (2/24/2012)
Oooh, right off the bat this was gorgeous, with bright dark berries backed up by chalky minerality on the nose, though the palate was a tad leaner. As we drank it over the course of about an hour at Corkbuzz it unfolded and really shone, taking on weight and becoming even more complex, with an avalanche of rocky berries that just tumbled across the palate. It was big, but not surprising for a 2009, but not too smooth (this is a good thing!). Its roughness is what made it so enticing, and the mid-length finish just made you want more and more of it. But alas, the bottle was empty…

I love the '08. I assume this one is great and will improve after a few years. I’ll have to find some.

+1, the 08 was gorgeous. I think I preferred it to the 09, though the 09 was beautiful too.
