TN: 2008 Winter's Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

  • 2008 Winter’s Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir Willamette Valley - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (2/9/2012)
for the money, this is an extraordinary value. The flavors are not your typical new world pinot. What I found was a dominant floral nose with red currants and strawberry rhubard behind this. Exceedingly prominent nose. The mouth feel is lively and explosive and full of exotics high toned red berry fruits with a tinge of metallic as well as steminess. That bitterness was mildlyoff putting and in the way of the purity of the fruit, but not so much that I couldn’t enjoy it. As a matter of fact, after a glass I wanted to be done and didn’t want to indulge anymore - just tired from work - but couldn’t resist the flavors and had to revisit.
First time with this winery and for $18 paid, I can’t think of a better new world pinot for the price that has so much going on.
