2008 Vincent Dancer Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tete du Clos - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (5/8/2012)
Young, but very good indeed. It had a rather perfumy nose, with typically Chassagne aromas of honeysuckle playing out alongside other white flower accents, a base of white fruit notes and sweeter inflections of nectar and peach. A very full, expressive bouquet for such a young wine. The palate was rather less giving at the moment, but still very nice, with a serious undercurrent of mineral and chalk notes flowing underneath bright flavours of bright white fruit, melons and peach touch with a little lemony lift towards the finish. There was good weight and heft on the wine, along with an unusual richness for a 2008, but this still came across as something on the more elegant spectrum given the lovely amount of fine acidity and typical Dancer definition on it. It was very lively and energtic all the way into its limestoney tail. A very accomplished wine that should keep improving in the bottle - this should be left for a few years at least. (92 pts.)
