2008 Turley Zinfandel Old Vines - USA, California (9/26/2010)
15.6% alcohol. I can’t say which old vine vineards are represented here, although Turley sources from some of the finest historic vineyards in the state - 101, Alexander Valley Road, Bechtold-Cinsault, Danti Dusi, Dogtown, Duarte, Fredericks, Hayne, Library, Mattern Ranch, Moore, Mori, Pesenti, Salvador, Ueberroth and Zampatti (to name a few)!
I can tell you that this wine was made under the supervision of Ehren Jordan and that Turley’s vineyard cultivation practices are legendary throughout California.
Dark ruby red. Floral and red fruit nose. On the palate, black cherry, rasberry, plums and some peppery spice. Very well balanced nice focus and concentration. Looong aftertaste.
This wine cost around $25 IIRC. A great introduction to historic California vineyards! (91 pts.)
