TN: 2008 Scherrer Winery Pinot Noir Sonoma County (USA, Cali

  • 2008 Scherrer Winery Pinot Noir Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (3/14/2011)
From half bottle. Red fruit, cherry and a bit of spice. . Deeply layered and complex yet very balanced and bright never getting heavy. Nice acidity and food lept the wine light on it’s feet. Was a perfect match with Roast Pork and like Fred’s Zin really came alive with food. It’s drinking very good from half bottle at this point. I usually give these a few years in the cellar but from half bottle it’s ready to go. Very impressed with this 08. (92 pts.)

A Scherrer wine that is deeply layered, balanced and complex?!!

In other news, Washington crosses the Delaware.

Ironically, I just tried them for the first time myself last week. It was the same bottling, but I think it was the 2006, not the 2008. Just out of curiosity, as I have never heard of them before, are they a newer winery or have they been around awhile?

Al right Counselor, sometimes you have to state the obvious… ( at least for the folks from Dallas…)

The Scherrer reminds of a certain RRV pinot. It’s another one that’s balanced and complex with nice acidity and a great food wine to boot. Sound familiar ??

Reminds me I gotta order the 09’s for that wine… [cheers.gif]
