TN: 2008 Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco

  • 2008 Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (10/8/2018)
Nose: The nose is aromatic and balanced with red cherries, raspberries, licorice, red currants, roast herbs, juniper berries, leather, some tobacco, and a touch of dust. There is excellent depth with the nose showing some maturing, but still showing off a lot of youth.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with high acidity and high tannins. The structure is still noticeable, but well integrated. The feel shows a sense of refinement with red cherries, raspberries, licorice, juniper berries, leather, and tobacco notes.

Overall: This is at the beginning of its window as it shows a lot of freshness to the fruit, but is lacking tertiary development. This saw about 3 hours of air before drinking and it was then showing beautifully. (92 pts.)
