After a couple of real disappointments this week (Vincent Latour Saint Aubin and Cyril Courvoisier Saint Joseph) I just had to open something reliable, ideally without ”Saint” in the name. This is just that, like reconnecting with an old friend. Ready to go on PnP, no major development over two hours.

Remains perhaps surprisingly fruity on the nose with abundant savory yet vibrant fruit that comes off like a mix of cherry and damson plum. That said, there are also rather classic notes of tar, leather and dried herbs. On the palate it is likewise richly fruited, however midway through appropriate tannins emerge and make their presence felt convincingly, rendering the finish pleasantly dry and grippy. Not a massively concentrated wine but there is some power and heft to it. To each their own, but unlike some CT users I find this wine to be quite youthful still with lots of fruit and structure (and some alcohol as well). It’s a delight to drink right now but for sure there is a lot of life left, likely also upside. Not a wine of particular depth or finesse but then it cost 17.90€ and as such it definitely delivers.
