2008 Lucien Jacob Hautes Cotes de Beaune - Like many people I once believed that 2008 was a vintage that only showed well at the higher classifications but here is another beautiful regional wine from this year. When first opened it was hard as nails and closed up completely but a couple of hours in a decanter has given it the chance to blossom. It has gorgeous aromatics of violet and red floral perfume. I find it a delight to smell. The wine is racy but juicy with very pretty and lightweight floral flavors. It doesn’t have much depth or complexity but it doesn’t seem lacking. My kind of burgundy.
