2008 Jean-Pierre et Jean-Francois Quenard Vin de Savoie Chignin-Bergeron Vieilles Vignes - France, Savoie, Vin de Savoie Chignin-Bergeron (9/23/2009)
WIML91
Tasted double blind and an offline.
Opened and served immediately. Straw to light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of paraffin, tropical fruits, yellow pears and a bit of florals. Flavors of yellow pears, yellow apples and minerals. Medium to bright acidity, medium body. Drink or hold. My guess was it’s a 2006 or 2007 White Rhone blend of Roussanne with some Marssanne. This wine is a Roussanne.
SIDE NOTE: during the same tasting a group member went to the back of the restaurant and came back with a wine he let me smell only double blind. I pronounced it a mid-1980’s Bordeaux. It was a 1986 Haut Brion. You have your moments. Either that or a blind hog… (91 pts.)
