TN: 2008 Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots

  • 2008 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (2/24/2011)
    Slightly odd metallic aroma. On the palate it very much reminded me of the 01 of this, a good thing, but with black fruits and much more impressively structured. Dry, mineral, stony and Gevrey savoury, superb length and grip, intense acids, mouth cloying, an 08 thing I think, unusual for Fourrier. Would have liked this more other than the aroma which I had difficulty with…, other than that, impressive and unforgiving. (90 pts.)

Some '08s have a combination of structure and high acid that may require some seriously long cellar time.

Kevin, yes, for that it is a vintage I am really really liking…, btw I opened this four days ago and just finished it now. May open another Gevrey in the spirit of Ray’s week.
