2008 Domaine Matrot Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc (4/26/2011)
Pours a pale to medium lemon yellow. Medium intensity aromas of melon, some nutty notes and dare I say a Chablis-like brininess. Medium minus body and alcohol, but has a deliciously pronounced & lip-smacking acidity balancing the bright fruit flavors. A small amount of vanilla sweetness pops up in the finish. A lovely intro wine. Very well done. (88 pts.)

Year in and year out this is normally a great Bourgogne for the price. We keep 2-3 cases a year as the house white as a general rule. In my mind this drinks as well as many Villages level wines and you can find it for a song. As noted in another thread, too bad they have so many severe premox problems, as I think they make delicious wine with lots of minerality and verve. If they can figure out how to solve the problem, I will also be a buyer of the Meursaults as well.
Jorge,
I completely agree, lovely simple white Burg. I’m a Matrot fan generally so I really loved seeing this at $12.99! My current house white.
Cheers,
-Robert
Quite happy with it gents. Seriously considering reloading but the wine budget has been spread REAL thin this month.
I too like this bottling and picked up another few more this week for 13 bucks each. Crazy good deal for a wine that shows this well. I have drank a few this past year but only noted the wine once.

From a twist bottle. I can see the new oak that is mentioned about this wine in the Norman book. It adds some creaminess but only an accent, which is nice here. Mineral, pretty loftý acidity, lemon, grapefruit, even a hint of meringue. The acidity is pretty good sized here but for 18 bucks, a very nice deal.

FMIII,
I had noticed your TN on CT and wondered why yours came out to $18 being so close to Envoyer (I’m assuming that’s where you got it right?).
I got the very first bottle at Wine Exchange and since then, I have bought all the bottles via Envoyer.
Has anyone tried the '09 yet? I see that’s pretty widely available in my area. TIA.
