I popped into a local small wine shop and bought two wines he recommended at the entry-level Chambolle arena. No group think here; didn’t know what to expect.
Didn’t read any reviews or scores until after I wrote my notes down. My first Barthod, and I now look forward to trying more of her “real” Chambolles. (Les Bons Batons is on the other side of RN74, so doesn’t get a Chambolle appelation)

2008 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod / Barthod-Noëllat Bourgogne Les Bons Bâtons - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (4/19/2014)
Popped and poured at cool room temp. Light intensity red fruit aromas with some gaminess. Some rock, and iron. Some early bottle age aromas(??). Austere, sharp acids in the mouth. Light, chalky tannins. Grapefruit-like (acid lovers will like this) finish. Missing the complexity and charm of the neighboring 1er and village Chambolles. For $33, it’s hard for me to recommend unless one only drinks French stuff. It’s not bad for a basic Bourgogne. This is my first Barthod.
