TN: 2008 Château Pavie Macquin Rosé (France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Contrôlée)

  • 2008 Château Pavie Macquin Rosé - France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Contrôlée (6/6/2009)
Wow. This is the best rose (that isn’t made by Tempier) that I’ve had in the past couple years. Yes, probably part of the wow is the fact that it’s $10, but that shouldn’t take anything away from the wine. Truly pink, not salmon in color. Expansive nose with notes of strawberry, raspberry, and flowers. Quite fragrant. On the palate similar berry and floral qualities with a medium-light body and great zip. Enjoyable and refreshing. Good cold and at room temperature. That’s a lot of wine for the price.

Very nice, Scott. Thanks for posting the note. I haven’t seen any Bordeaux rosé around yet this year, but a couple of years ago, I found a delicious rosé from Calon Segur that was maybe $12.

Who says you can’t get perfectly delicious Bordeaux for under $15? [cheers.gif]

yeah, i hate those salmon roses, they should all be PINK! [taunt.gif]

jk scotty, sounds good, really good for the cash money too.

Ok - I want to try this!!

Where would one find it on the West Coast for $10-ish?

I picked this up at K and L for $10. It looks like they have it at all of their locations. I was just looking at winex and they have it too for $10 – they describe it as a “penthouse rose.” I have no idea what that means  .

On the back of my bottle (which I purchased at K and L) it says “selected by K and L” and imported by “premier wine company.” I wonder if the winex bottles say the same thing or if wine shops got to do their own blending/selecting?

slada – Even Cathy (the better half) liked the wine, which is crazy since she is so anti-rose.

Scott

Dude, Winex has a s#$%-load of it – or did on Saturday. Oh, and it is nice, too. Had it with some Shrimp Mediterrean…delish!
