TN: 2008 Chapoutier - St. Joseph "Deschants" (France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph)

NOSE: cigarbox; garrigue/sage; cherry; spicy; expressive; moderately complex; pleasurable; what I would expect from a St. Joseph; with time in the glass, hints of citrus or candied cranberry, menthol, and game emerged.

BODY: purple-tinged garnet color of medium depth; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: better (more complex and a tad less fruity) than Day 1; nice acidity; little bit of soft tannic grip on the back end; garrigue comes through on the finish; slight citrus aspect; easy drinker; 12.5% alc. not noticeable; medium length finish of moderate intensity. Overall, a very nice drink and performs extremely well for its price-point.

B: 50, 5, 13, 15, 7 = (90 pts.)
